Meryl Streep Fell Into Depression Because of The Devil Wears Prada?!

11 Dec 2025

Meryl Streep is returning to the screens alongside the legendary Miranda Priestly, and this is an event that millions of fashion lovers (and not only them!) around the world are eagerly awaiting! We will share the details far beyond just this, and we will reveal Meryl from a completely different side! We will tell how, just six months after the death of her beloved, she was already trying on a wedding dress with a new man, how she managed to combine a brilliant career with the birth of four children, and how she once forgot her Oscar… in the bathroom! Believe us, there will be much more interesting things to come!

A Legendary Return After Two Decades!

Twenty years have passed since the release of the film that changed the way audiences saw the world of fashion and how hard the path to a dream can sometimes be! And now - The Devil Wears Prada is officially returning - fans are ecstatic, and we won’t hide it — we are too!

1 (9).jpg?format=webp@Adrielly Oliveiraah/facebook.com

The first teaser has already caused a storm of emotions: social media literally exploded, and Variety confirmed the premiere date - May 1, 2026. There is very little time left to wait! What is especially exciting is that the director of the original movie, David Frankel, is heading the project again, which immediately gives fans confidence that the vibe of the first film will be preserved.

Miranda Priestly vs. the New Era!

The plot of the sequel focuses on Miranda Priestly — the same cold and unwavering editor-in-chief of Runway. But now she faces a much more serious challenge than clumsy assistants or failed fashion shows.

@Collection Christophel/Alamy

The media world has changed dramatically: print magazines are disappearing, digital dominants rule the market, and prestige is gradually being replaced by clicks. Miranda has to fight not only for her influence but also for the very concept of classic fashion journalism. And it is at this moment that fate brings her face to face with someone she had long left in the past...

Emily Charlton - No Longer an Assistant but a Serious Player

Emily Charlton returns in a completely new status... The same nervous, sharp-tongued, and constantly on-the-edge assistant has now become an influential executive at a major luxury corporation.

3 (9).jpg?format=webp

@stylaphilemag.com

She controls the advertising budgets without which Runway cannot stay afloat. Their meeting after all these years promises to be one of the most tense scenes in the film... Insiders are already writing that their duo will once again become legendary...

The Return of Beloved Actors!

The creators decided not to change the magic of the original and gathered almost the entire cast from the first part. Meryl Streep reprises her role as Miranda Priestly, Anne Hathaway returns as a grown-up Andy Sachs, and Emily Blunt plays the updated, confident Emily Charlton.

4 (8).jpg?format=webp

@Raymond Hall/GC Images

Stanley Tucci will again be Nigel — the man who in 2006 charmed audiences with a combination of irony, wisdom, and incredible style. Kenneth Branagh also joins the sequel, playing Miranda’s husband. Well, all we can do is rejoice! After all, when beloved characters are replaced by new ones, it can feel, to put it mildly, a bit unsettling...

Why the Sequel Is So Important - and Not Just for Nostalgia!

The first film reflected an era when success in fashion journalism seemed almost mythical: style, strict deadlines, sacrifices of personal life for career. But twenty years later, the industry has become completely different — and the sequel promises to show that very clash between classic and contemporary...

5 (7).jpg?format=webp@getty

Fans are discussing whether the creators will address influencers, algorithms, digital traffic spikes, as well as the disappearance of iconic magazine editors. Well, many answers to these questions will be revealed in this film! And for now, we want to tell more about one of its main heroines, played by the legendary Meryl Streep... Believe us — her life has no less drama than the film itself!

Meryl - That’s Not Her Real Name...

Many people assume that the famous actress was always Meryl Streep but in fact, she was born Mary Louise. Following family tradition, her name repeated the names of her mother and grandmother - all Marys - so her parents decided to add Louise in honor of her mother’s friend.

6 (7).jpg?format=webp

@getty

But her father came up with the nickname Meryl, which immediately stuck, and from that moment everyone called her that. According to Streep herself, this name became like a little signature for her, as if foretelling her future creative life and distinguishing her from everyone around.

Meryl Streep’s Childhood in a Provincial Town

Mary Louise was born in the small town of Summit, New Jersey, in a family with strict but warm rules. Her father, Harry Streep, worked as a manager in a pharmaceutical company and always tried to provide a good future for his children, while her mother, Mary Wolf, though an artist, almost completely devoted herself to the home and raising three children.

7 (8).jpg?format=webp

@ART & Vintage 2/facebook.com

Besides Meryl, the family had two sons — Harry III and Dana. Life with her brothers, constant games, and little rivalries gave the future actress the opportunity to develop charisma, courage, and a sense of humor, which later helped her on stage and in film. From childhood, Meryl observed people, their gestures and emotions, which, as she admits, became her “living school of acting.”

From an Opera Voice to the Stage

As a child, Meryl’s most remarkable feature was her beautiful voice, and teachers advised her parents to develop her musical abilities, preparing her for a career as an opera singer. She studied with a teacher for several years, planning to become an opera performer but fate played a little joke on her. At Vassar College, the drama teacher Clinton Atkinson asked her to try reading the monologue of Blanche DuBois from Tennessee Williams’ play A Streetcar Named Desire.

8 (5).jpg?format=webp

@merylmania.wordpress.com

And when Meryl began her performance, the hall literally froze: the student, who had never studied acting, managed to capture the audience’s attention and completely transform into the character. It was then that the teachers realized they were witnessing a rare talent that could not be missed!

The Chance That Changed Everything

That very random monologue at Vassar became a real opportunity to launch her career. Students and teachers were amazed at how Meryl, so young and inexperienced, could command the audience’s attention, convey emotions, and literally bring the text to life on stage.

9 (5).jpg?format=webp@getty

This performance proved that her acting gift existed, and it was capable of taking her far beyond her small hometown, turning her into a true star...

How It All Began at Vassar

After that, Meryl enrolled in the prestigious Vassar College to study drama. Her parents simply wanted to give her a good education, and at first, everything seemed very calm and predictable – Meryl studied well but her classmates at first glance were just as good… But one day her teacher, Clinton Atkinson, asked her to read a monologue of Blanche DuBois at the student concert. It was almost accidental – they just needed someone to step onto the stage.

10 (2).jpg?format=webp

@clemthearcher/reddit.com

And then Meryl stepped out, began to speak… and the audience froze. No one expected that a student without preparation for this monologue would suddenly transform so completely that the spectators would literally hold their breath…

The Person Who Changed Her Destiny

After this performance, Meryl was invited to all the student plays. She performed a lot, with pleasure but still had no idea how successful and famous she would become… And then one day, Robert Brustein, the dean of the Yale School of Drama, happened to be in the audience.

11 (2).jpg?format=webp@clemthearcher/reddit.com

He watched one play, then approached Meryl and said: “You must be with us.” He not only accepted her into the troupe of his theater but also personally recommended her for admission to the Yale School of Drama, even fully funding her studies, simply because he saw enormous potential in her!

A Place That Became a Second Home

At Yale, Meryl literally lived on stage. During her studies, she played more than 40 roles – from serious dramas to light comedies. She could quickly transform from one character to another, and the teachers were constantly amazed at how all of this could fit in one person.

12 (4).jpg?format=webp

@clemthearcher/reddit.com

By the time Meryl graduated, she was already ready for big projects – she had the experience of an actress who had been working for many years! And this is no exaggeration!

First Steps on Broadway

In 1975, Meryl moved to New York and immediately joined the Joseph Papp Theater production 27 Wagons of Cotton. This was her first serious appearance on Broadway, and it instantly attracted the attention of critics.

13 (4).jpg?format=webp

@simplystreep.com

For this role, Meryl was even nominated for a Tony Award – an incredible achievement for a debutante. From that moment, it was clear: a major career was beginning…

How Cinema Pulled Meryl Streep Away from the Stage

At some point, theater stopped being the main focus in Meryl Streep’s life – and it all began in 1977. At that time, the very young actress was cast in the film Julia. The role was small but the project won three Oscars, and Meryl suddenly found herself in the spotlight of half of Hollywood.

14 (3).jpg?format=webp

@queenmerylofhollywood/Instagram.com

Among those who immediately “noticed” her was Michael Cimino, the director of The Deer Hunter. And he only saw Meryl for the role of Linda. That’s how it happened: she agreed, receiving $35,000 for the work, which at that time seemed like an astronomical sum!

Filming Gave Everything and Took Everything…

On one hand – working with Robert De Niro and Christopher Walken. On the other hand – hellish difficulties in her personal life, which we will describe in more detail later… but for now, it’s enough to say that John Cazale, her beloved and co-star, was dying of cancer… so during the day Meryl performed, giving everything, and at night sat by him as he grew weaker right before her eyes…

15 (5).jpg?format=webp@robert_de_niro_movies/Instagram.com

The Deer Hunter won five Oscars, and Meryl received her first nomination. After this, her name no longer needed explanation in Hollywood.

The Year When Roles Seemed to Come to Her

In 1979, Meryl seemed to catch her wave. In Woody Allen’s comedy Manhattan she was bright, confident, and strong – critics were delighted.

16 (4).jpg?format=webp

@Columbia Pictures

Then came Kramer vs. Kramer – a film that brought her the first Oscar and the status of a top-tier actress. Hollywood understood: this was not a coincidence but the beginning of a long story!

The Oscar That Went… to the Bathroom

But what everyone talked about most at that time was not even her brilliant acting but a funny incident that became almost legendary. After receiving her first statuette, Meryl… forgot it in the ladies’ room. She simply left it on the shelf and walked away.

17 (2).jpg?format=webp

@getty

Later she laughed: “I had a huge dress, I was constantly adjusting it. I completely forgot about the Oscar first.”
Fortunately, the next guest found the statuette and returned it to its owner. Irony of fate? Perhaps. Today, when Meryl has so many awards that she could open her own museum, that story seems almost symbolic: one Oscar more, one less – who would even notice?

The First Love That Brought So Much Hope…

Alongside her brilliant career, Meryl also managed to build her personal life… and at first, everything seemed perfect! During one rehearsal, Meryl met John Cazale, who was 14 years older than her. Sparks flew instantly between them. The young couple fell madly in love: John became Meryl’s first true love.

18 (2).jpg?format=webp

@ Ken Regan/Camera 5/Getty

Although Cazale had a family before, their feelings developed rapidly – they moved in together, planned a wedding, and dreamed of a big family. Their relationship seemed simply perfect: no gossip, no loud scandals. John supported Meryl in her career, accompanied her to auditions, and together they took their first steps into cinema…

The Beginning of a Terrible Trial…

As you remember from Michael Cimino’s drama The Deer Hunter, Meryl’s partner was her beloved John Cazale. Filming was happy: the couple spent almost all their time together – rehearsals, shooting, rest.

19 (1).jpg?format=webp

@james_grissom/Instagram.com

It seemed that nothing could spoil their idyll… but fate had a trial in store. During work on the film, John became unwell…

Words That Shook the Ground

After examination, he was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer… Each day his condition worsened, and filming was at risk. The producer even considered firing Cazale but the director insisted on keeping him, and Meryl threatened to leave the project if he were dismissed.

20 (1).jpg?format=webp

@Globe Photos

Filming continued but a special schedule was made for John, and Meryl stayed by his side every day, supporting him both morally and physically.

Pain and Moral Choice

After The Deer Hunter, Meryl went to film the series Holocaust in Australia. Leaving John was very hard but refusing the project threatened a large financial penalty, which the actress could not afford. Cazale understood the importance of Meryl’s career and insisted that she go.

21 (1).jpg?format=webp

@Photofest

Filming lasted several months, and Streep worked from her last strength, hiding anxiety and fatigue. However, returning to New York, Meryl discovered that the disease had completely exhausted John…

Her Beloved’s Final Days…

He refused hospitalization but Streep took all expenses upon herself and moved into the hospital to care for him. For three months she fed him, read newspapers aloud, told him the news, and tried to cheer him up. “We had never been so close as in the hospital. I didn’t notice how he was fading,” the actress later admitted.

22 (1).jpg?format=webp

@getty

On March 12, 1978, John Cazale died, leaving Meryl with the words: “It’s okay, Meryl!” She was devastated and remembered this period as her greatest trial…

When Home Becomes Hell

After John Cazale’s death, the apartment where Meryl lived with him became a torment. Every little thing – an old mug, their shared belongings, books, an ashtray – seemed to take her back to the happiness that was gone forever.

23 (1).jpg?format=webp

@getty

She admitted that she could not stay in those walls: the pain, the memories, and the longing were unbearable… On her brother’s advice, she temporarily moved into the studio of a family friend, sculptor Don Gummer, as far as possible from what had broken her heart…

Work as the Only Salvation from Pain

Meryl threw herself into work. She filled herself with projects, auditions, rehearsals to the point of exhaustion – and at home immediately fell asleep so that thoughts could not cling to pain.

24 (1).jpg?format=webp

@VindictaRateCelebs/reddit.com

She said that work became her salvation: only on set, among lines and roles, did she feel that she was at least briefly free from grief and responsibility. It was her defense against memories, her attempt to survive loss and not let despair take over…

When a Friend Returns – and Everything Changes

Unexpectedly, sculptor Don Gummer, whose apartment Meryl temporarily occupied, returned to New York. His apartment, where Streep had been staying, was needed again. And here the most interesting part began! Instead of awkwardness or formal thanks, there was a meeting, a calm conversation, a shared meal… Don noticed how Meryl held herself, how exhausted she was but still strong.

25.jpg?format=webp@VindictaRateCelebs/reddit.com

According to reports, he saw in her not just a woman who had survived tragedy but a woman with will, character, and a heart still capable of love. She said she didn’t know how to repay him – and jokingly suggested writing him letters. And… Don agreed!

Letters That Heal

These letters became a sort of diary for Meryl: every emotion, every pain, every burst of longing she wrote on paper. It was her secret dialogue with the world, with herself – an attempt to take bitterness out of herself and not let it settle forever. Don read, responded, and supported her. And the more letters, the stronger the invisible connection between them…

26.jpg?format=webp

 @VindictaRateCelebs/reddit.com

He later admitted he did not expect to feel her soul so deeply, both fragile and strong at once: “She was completely crushed by John’s death – I did all I could to help her but soon I realized I was in love.”

When Friendship Turns Into Love

Step by step, their correspondence turned into attachment, and then into real feelings… For Meryl, it was not just salvation after pain but a chance to start living again. Don became the one who extended a hand when it seemed that beyond was only emptiness.

27 (1).jpg?format=webp

@Ron Galella / Getty

This new romance was not loud, it did not make headlines, it was not a sensation. It simply appeared – as a chance for another future… and Meryl did not rush to share her personal life with others but soon it happened in a way that could not be hidden…

The Proposal Just Six Months After the Loss of Her Beloved

Six months later, Don proposed to Meryl, and the actress accepted… She admitted that at that time she still had not come to terms with John Cazale’s death but Don showed her that life goes on and that it is important to enjoy each day again…

28 (1).jpg?format=webp

@WWD / Getty Images

However, not everyone immediately reacted calmly to Meryl’s new relationship.

Family and Friends Were in Shock

Her mother, Mary Wolf, was reportedly a little stunned: “Mom didn’t know how to react. Six months ago, Meryl could barely cope with grief, and now suddenly a new man, new feelings…” the actress recalled in an interview.

29.jpg?format=webp@AP/Shutterstock

Friends were also surprised at how quickly she opened up to Donald but no one could deny that the man truly helped Meryl regain joy in life…

A Wedding Full of Warmth and Simplicity

In 1978, Meryl and Don got married. The celebration was modest, without unnecessary pomp, and only close friends and family witnessed this important day. According to the actress, this was exactly the moment when she felt that she could trust life again and enjoy love.

30.jpg?format=webp

@celebs/reddit.com

Neither Meryl nor Don thought then that they would live together for over 45 years… but they would not become the couple who “lived together until the last day,” and the reasons for their eventual divorce we will discuss later…

A Husband Who Always Supported Her

Nevertheless, Meryl was extremely happy at the time… Don Gummer was not just the husband of a celebrity – he was a partner who supported Meryl and helped her stay herself. Together they raised children and built a stable home, where the actress could fully immerse herself in family life without guilt over career ambitions.

31.jpg?format=webp@celebs/reddit.com

And at the same time, the couple did not postpone the happiness of becoming parents! This couple had four incredible children, which we'll tell you about now!

The Family Grows!

Already a year after the wedding, in 1979, their son Henry Wolfe Gummer was born, followed by three daughters: Mary, Grace, and Louisa. The family became the main priority for the actress.

32 (1).jpg?format=webp

@getty

The death of her former beloved John taught her an important lesson: never put a career above family. Meryl learned to set priorities, and today she calmly refuses projects if they conflict with her family values.

The First Child in the Streep Family Was a “Test”

When their son Henry Wolfe Gummer was born, it was both a joy and a true test for the young family… Meryl was already shining on stage and in film, and now she had to combine endless rehearsals and shoots with sleepless nights, feeding, and her child's first steps. But she and her husband managed everything!

33.jpg?format=webp

@Historical Hunt/facebook.com

Henry grew up to be a real handsome man and did not follow in his mother’s footsteps, choosing music instead. He performed in the band Bravo Silva, released several solo albums, and his songs appeared in the soundtracks of the films Julie & Julia and Ricki and the Flash. In 2019, Henry married Tamryn, and the couple had two children: daughter Ida June and son Quinn William. Meryl proudly notes that her son, like her, was able to build a career while maintaining close family relationships.

The Arrival of Mamie Gummer

On August 3, 1983, Streep and Gummer had their first daughter – Mary Willa Gummer, known as Mamie. She inherited her mother’s talent and also chose an acting path, successfully appearing in films and on television. Mamie played the lead role in Emily Owens, M.D., had regular roles in The Good Wife and The Good Fight, and appeared alongside Meryl in Heartburn and Ricki and the Flash.

34.jpg?format=webp

@ Historical Hunt/facebook.com

Mamie’s personal life was no less eventful: her marriage to Ben Walker ended in divorce but in 2019 she remarried to Mehar Sethi, and the couple had a son, making Meryl a grandmother for the first time. In interviews, she would smile and admit that she was already ready to give her granddaughter unsolicited advice, jokingly promising to “run the little one’s life.”

Family Bliss in Connecticut

In the summer of 1985, the Streep family with two children moved to Salisbury, Connecticut. It was there that Meryl felt the long-awaited calm. She called this period her “oasis,” enjoying the role not only of a mother but also of a friend and advisor to her children. She was proud to be able to watch them grow, see their characters develop, while still being able to actively work on films and plays.

35.jpg?format=webp

@fliqkr.com

For Meryl, this was a period when she could feel completely happy: family comfort, her own rhythm, the chance to be close to her children while maintaining her career. It was at this time that she once again realized that family values would always be a priority for her!

A Year Passed… and Meryl Gave Birth Again!

On May 9, 1986, the Streep family welcomed their third child – Grace Gummer. She also chose an acting profession, debuting on Broadway in the play Arcadia in 2011, and appearing in television projects The Newsroom, American Horror Story: Freak Show, and Mr. Robot. The films Frances Ha and The Homesman added to her cinematic portfolio.

36.jpg?format=webp

@getty

Grace’s personal life was also busy: she was married to musician Tay Strathern, and in 2021 she married music producer Mark Ronson, with whom she had a daughter in early 2023. Meryl once again became a grandmother and simultaneously rejoiced that her children were growing up happy and independent.

The Youngest Daughter Louise Jacobson Gummer

And apparently, Meryl enjoyed being a mother so much that she didn’t stop at three children! On June 12, 1991, the fourth child was born – Louise Jacobson Gummer. And… she also chose an acting career! She became known for her role as Marian Brook in the series The Gilded Age.

Screenshot_3 (1).jpg?format=webp

@Shutterstock

Louise often shares funny stories about her mother’s habits: Meryl still calls her “Pickle,” constantly checks if everything is ready for her, and loves to imitate the accents of people around her, which sometimes annoys her daughter but always with love!

The Secret of the Longevity of Meryl and Don’s Marriage (Former...)

Balancing motherhood, marriage, and a successful career, Meryl Streep almost never discussed her marriage publicly but in a 2002 Vogue interview, she revealed the main secret of their long union… of course, no one guessed at the time that the couple would still live together for another 20 years before separating.

38.jpg?format=webp

@celebs/reddit.com

Nevertheless, back then their marriage was incredibly harmonious – and yes, we are curious to know their secret firsthand! And here’s what Meryl said: “My husband and I are both successful in our work. We work overtime and often without days off. But there is one ‘sacred’ rule, which we rarely break – and only in exceptional cases: we always have dinner together. That is exactly why I don’t like going on shoots abroad.”
It’s a pity this secret worked only for 45 years… and then something broke but more on that gradually…

And How Did She Manage Everything?!

As we already mentioned earlier, in addition to building a successful marriage and giving birth to four children, and in the breaks between pregnancies, Meryl shone in films!

39.jpg?format=webp@awardswatch.com

She holds an unsurpassed record – 21 Oscar nominations for acting (no other actor or actress has collected so many). And she won the coveted statue three times: for roles in Kramer vs. Kramer, Sophie's Choice, and The Iron Lady. And we simply could not forget some of her most iconic works!

When Scenes Literally Hurt…

Between the birth of her first and second child, in 1982, Meryl took on perhaps one of the most difficult tasks: the role of a Polish immigrant – a Holocaust survivor – in the film Sophie's Choice. Her character carries the weight of the past, horror, regret, fear, and the torment of memories – and all this for a woman forced… to choose.

40 (1).jpg?format=webp

@imbd.com

To make the role look as natural as possible, the actress learned Polish and German accents in just a few weeks, as required by the director. But that was far from the hardest part…

Meryl Literally Felt Nauseous from Horror on Set…

The final scenes of the film were emotionally extremely intense and were hardly rehearsed. The actress said that she simply could not repeat these scenes several times — the emotional burden was too great. The key scene, when Sophie must choose which of her children to send to the gas chamber, became a real test for the actress.

41 (1).jpg?format=webp@imbd.com

As Elle wrote, Meryl admitted that she literally felt nauseous — the pain and horror she experienced with her character were so strong… For this incredibly difficult work, Streep received the Oscar for Best Actress.

A New Role – and Again a Cry of the Soul!

In 1983, Meryl played Karen Silkwood in the film Silkwood — a real woman, a nuclear plant worker, who exposed dangerous working conditions and tried to protect her colleagues.

42.jpg?format=webp

@vintage.everyday/Instagram.com

It was another challenging role… Meryl did not pretend, did not exaggerate — she simply gave the screen an honest image of a woman, frightened but still fighting. The Oscar nomination became further proof: Meryl, even on screen, could be the voice of those who are not heard.

New Facets of Meryl

In 1985, Out of Africa was released — a romantic drama in which Meryl played a writer. And this time, Meryl revealed a completely new side! The role proved that Meryl could be not only a tragic heroine but also a bright, strong, and passionate woman.

43 (1).jpg?format=webp

@Poudrée Rose/facebook.com

And the filming was incredible! It took place almost entirely in Kenya. The team worked among real savannas and wild animals — which added incredible realism to the shots. But the conditions were far from comfortable…

And Again a Sensation!

Heat, unpredictable weather, sometimes wild animals literally walking near the actors. All this made the work difficult, and viewers had no idea what Meryl and the team had to go through to create the feeling of real Africa on screen.

44 (1).jpg?format=webp

@imbd.com

The film became a true event: it grossed over $227 million on a $31 million budget and won seven Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Director. Meryl Streep received a nomination for Best Actress.

The Devil Wears Prada and… Again a Completely New Meryl!

In 2006, Meryl played the editor-in-chief of a fashion magazine — a powerful, cold, charismatic woman. Her lines, manners, gaze… she literally made the viewer both hate and admire her!

45.jpg?format=webp@Barry Wetcher/20th Century Fox/Kobal/Shutterstock

This role once again proved that Meryl had no intention of “staying stuck” in one or several types of roles — she is capable of playing completely different heroines and staying relevant decades into her acting career! However, it turns out that this role almost led Meryl to… depression!

Why Meryl Almost Needed a Psychiatrist Because of the Role of Miranda?!

Many scenes of Miranda were shot with almost no takes. Meryl literally “lived” this character on set — from her walk to her cutting intonation, which made her performance incredibly convincing and, at the same time, very exhausting. As TMZ wrote, in one interview Meryl admitted that getting into Miranda’s character was incredibly difficult. She penetrated so deeply into her heroine’s psychology that several times she felt real fatigue and emotional burnout.

46 (1).jpg?format=webp

@nbcnews.com

She felt as if she were living the life of a tyrant, who knows no mercy and always demands the impossible from people… Fortunately, Meryl managed to overcome this tension — largely thanks to the support of her family.

A Star Who Gives Her Competitors No Chance

When it seems that Meryl Streep can no longer surprise anyone — she absolutely does. Even after decades in cinema, after legendary roles and countless awards, the actress continues to perform as if every project is a new chapter of her creative life. And the last few years have become the best proof of this: Meryl is still in the game, in great shape, and not planning to slow down.

47 (1).jpg?format=webp

@nytimes.com

One of her brightest works of the last decade is the film Don't Look Up. Meryl played the President of the United States there, and as always, she did it brilliantly: with irony, cold-blooded composure, and that signature Streep depth, even if the character seems comical... but Streep managed to surprise not only with a new image... but also with the announcement of her divorce after 45 years of marriage!

They Haven’t Been Together for a Long Time?

Oscar-winning Meryl Streep once again became the heroine of loud headlines — and this time not because of cinema. After 45 years of marriage, she separated from her husband Don Gummer. As Daily Mail wrote, the actress’s representative confirmed that the couple had been connected only by friendship for a long time — they actually separated six years ago but no one knew about it.

48 (2).jpg?format=webp

@ Valerie Macon / AFP

As Daily Mail reports, Meryl and Don chose to handle everything quietly and respectfully — no scandals, no interviews, no accusations... Everything was done calmly, respectfully, and in a very adult way. The last time they were seen together was in 2018 at the Oscars ceremony — and they have not appeared publicly together since then.

Is Meryl Streep Getting Married Again?

This year Hollywood was shaken by an even louder piece of news! According to Daily Mail, 76-year-old Meryl Streep is allegedly planning a wedding with Canadian actor Martin Short - her peer and co-star from the series Only Murders in the Building.

49 (1).jpg?format=webp

If New Idea is to be believed, Meryl and Martin are already discussing the details of the ceremony. The couple kept their relationship secret for a long time but now, it seems, they are ready to take the next step. The wedding is planned to be small, intimate, and only for the closest people.
Among the possible locations is the secluded resort The Ritz-Carlton Bacara in Montecito. A place that is perfectly suited for a quiet, beautiful ceremony.

Happiness Is Possible at Any Age!

Despite changes in her personal life, Meryl remains incredibly active: she continues acting, taking on new roles, appearing at award shows, and receiving ovations. And at the same time she is not afraid to build personal happiness again!

50 (1).jpg?format=webp

@getty

She once again reminds the whole world: personal life and career success do not end at 60, 70, or 80. You can fall in love, be loved, change your destiny, and discover new meanings — at any age! And that is truly inspiring!
